Simon Davies founded Vera Cruz International because he passionately believes in the development of bi-lateral business opportunities between Brazil and Europe. A British born businessman he became closely involved with the country in 1997 when he moved to Curitiba to assume responsibility for Volvo’s Latin American banking and treasury activities. He set up Banco Volvo S.A. (a multiple bank) in Brazil and over the following years spread the concept of Volvo Financial Services throughout most of Latin America.

After ten years Simon was invited to join the Rabobank group subsidiary De Lage Landen (DLL) as Chief Commercial Officer, which moved him and his family to The Netherlands, but he still retained a strong focus on Latin America through Banco DLL who have a strong presence in the region’s agricultural sector.

Simon’s ties with Latin America strengthened further when, in 2017, he was invited to join EBANX, a young Latin American payments FinTech focussed on e-commerce payments, as Managing Director responsible for developing their cross-border payment’s business, which saw him develop new international payment solutions and innovative e-wallet products.

Six years later Simon left EBANX, in June 2023, now a leading international payment services provider focussed on financial inclusivity and has since dedicated himself to developing Brazil/UK bi-lateral business opportunities. He is also Chairman of the Financial Services Committee at the Brazilian Chamber of Commerce in London.

Simon set up Vera Cruz to capitalize on his deeply held belief that Europe and Brazil have extensive cultural similarities and therefore seem natural business partners. Through its links with organisations such as the UK’s Department for Business and Trade (DBT), the Brazilian Chambers of Commerce networks and think tanks (like Canning House) the company provides thought leadership, strategy and management consultancy services to clients throughout the UK, Europe and Brazil.

Simon divides his time between his bases in London and Curitiba.
